16:00 & 16:30

spraycan, wood panel
420 x 160 cm

recreating a turbulent old District 8 in Ho Chi Minh City through a bright color but hiding the thorny reality of a time where I was born and raised.
The slum dwellers - the lottery ticket seller who couldn't sell out before the lottery draw, the cyclo driver, the worker involved in gambling, lotteries... - all turned to the loudspeaker broadcasting the lottery results at 16:00 and 16:30. The chaos of the scene and different emotions exploded during this time frame, like the local philosophy "Before 4:30, it's not known who is poorer or richer."
